Sophie is running for UNICEF

On 30th September, I will be taking my life into my hands and running the Warsaw marathon. Yes, a full marathon. 26 miles (or whatever it is, still not 100% on the details as trying not to think about the distance bit too much).

Since I left boarding school and stopped eating 3 chocolate spread sandwiches of an evening, I can now carry my own body weight round a half-marathon. Training has (sort of) begun for the dramatic summer ahead. As those who know me know, I get blisters so big that they start to gain neural function, so this will doubtlessly be a major issue in the coming months.

I'm running for Unicef. Unicef is the world’s leading organisation for children. They work with families, local communities, partners and government in more than 190 countries to help every child realise their full potential. In everything they do, the most disadvantaged children and the countries in greatest need have priority. You can find out about what they do here: https://www.unicef.org.uk/what-we-do/

Anyone who fancies a little trip to Warsaw to watch me "do a Paula"* is welcome. I'll need you to carry me to the airport the following day (those who are CPR qualified are even more welcome).
